It is important to note that your network name is visible to others, and your password is what they will use to access your network. Therefore, creating a strong password is crucial to prevent unwanted users from consuming your data by accessing your network within range.
Having too many users on your network can also slow down your internet speeds, so a strong password can help you regulate network access.
If you want to increase security, you can opt to hide your network name by changing the SSID broadcast to “Private.” However, keep in mind that this means you won’t be able to see it in the list of available networks either.
You may also consider creating a separate guest network with a unique password to share with visitors, non-family members, or anyone else you do not want to provide access to your personal online information.
