Problem #1: No WiFi Connection With TRENDnet Router

Use the WiFi button on your devices (PC, laptop, smartphone, etc)

On the off chance that you have not realized, there is a quick toggle WiFi on some current laptop models. This shortcut’s symbol is usually the signal column.

So, when your laptop doesn’t show the WiFi signal, try pressing this button to find it and reconnect .

Restart your device and router

Restarting or rebooting sometimes can help fix some software errors on your computer or WiFi TRENDnet router.

To restart or reboot your router, simply press and hold its power button for about a few seconds.

The second way is to unplug your router and then plug it in again. The device will automatically restart itself.

Turn off every device connected to WiFi

If out of the blue, your WiFi connection drops and there seems to be nothing wrong , turn off the computer, then turn off the router and finally, the modem.

If you use the type of modem that has a built-in router, you need to check all the cables and power plugs to make sure none of them has fallen off before turning your devices on following this order: first is the modem, the router and finally the computer successively.

Reset your router

If you still cannot get access to the WiFi after trying all of the above methods, try resetting your router. There are two ways to do it:

The first one is using a small object having the shape like a paperclip to press and hold the small Reset button for at least ten seconds. This button is usually located at the back of the router.

The second way is to access the TRENDnet router admin interface. First, go to your router’s IP address. . You can check it on the Internet. Otherwise, you can try one of these: 192.168.10.100 or 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 It differs from one router model to another so there is no reason to fret if one line of number does not work. Choose another one and retry.

Next, type in the default username and password at the Log-in interface. These can be found at the back of your router. If you cannot find them, search them on the TRENDnet website or contact the brand hotline. After logging in, find the Tools section, choose Factory Reset and press the Yes button.

Still, for the second method, your device must be connected to the Internet at first. Moreover, remember that after resetting, every current setting or configuration change that you have made to your router will be deleted.

Problem #2: Slow WiFi Connection On TRENDnet Router

Set or Change WiFi Password

If you have not set your WiFi password, then it’s high time for you to do this. When your router does not have a password, anyone can connect to your WiFi.

This not only makes your Internet speed slower because of overload but also makes your personal data network easier to tamper. So, do not forget to set a password to protect your privacy.

However, if you have already set a WiFi password but this problem still occurs, the odds are that your neighbor uses password-hacking software or your password is too easy to guess.

Therefore, you should consider changing your current password to a stronger one. Do you want to know what makes a strong password? It must meet these requirements:

  • Length: between 8 to 16 characters
  • Include at least one Capital letter
  • Include at least one special symbol such as $, @, *, and so on
  • Include at least one number
  • Don’t set the password based on your name or birthday
  • Don’t set obvious passwords such as “password” or “account”
  • Don’t use adjacent characters such as 1234, abcd and so on.
  • Try to set a password related to something personal and familiar to you only

And now, we will let you in on the basic steps to upgrade your firmware:

  • Download the new firmware version file
  • Go to your TRENDnet router’s IP address (If you don’t know where it is, read the fifth-way mentioned above)
  • Choose Administrator/ Tools → Upload Firmware/ Firmware
  • Browse the file you have just downloaded
  • Press Apply/ Upload

The reason why we mentioned two options to choose is because there will be some slight differences between them based on your router IP address.

Furthermore, updating firmware might return some of your current settings back to their factory default. So, remember to save all the settings before doing this.

Change router’s channel

Normally, a WiFi router is usually set at channel 6 or channel 11. So, you can try switching channels to limit signal source conflicts with the surrounding WiFi networks if you feel that the signal is slow.

To change your router channel, go to its IP address and log in. Then choose Wireless section → Basic Settings, and you will see the Frequency or Wireless Channel part.

Buy A New Router

Every technology product has a certain lifespan and so do WiFi routers. So, if you have tried every way possible to bring your Internet connection back to normal yet nothing works, then it is time to buy a new one. However, we consider this as the last resort because it will cost you more than you think.

Problem #3: Weak WiFi Signal From TRENDnet Router

Move Your Router To Another Place

Laggy websites and slow Internet connections are not the only things irritating WiFi users. Weak WiFi signals also get on peoples’ nerves . To fix this problem, try moving your router closer to you.

Besides, you should not put your router in the drawer or any position that you cannot see with ease . Furthermore, avoid placing electric devices such as a microwave or mobile phone within a radius of 2 meters from your router as they can hinder the wireless waves .

Replace or Update WiFi Antenna

One of the most direct and effective ways to improve the WiFi signal strength is to replace your TRENDnet router’s antenna with a new and more modern one.

Normally, the antenna will be compatible and perform the best if it goes with the same brand router. So, we advise you to buy it right from the TRENDnet website, official stores, authorized resellers or distributors.

Use WiFi Signal Booster

The WiFi signal booster will help you receive WiFi signals at a distance further than usual. For example, with a common router, you can only get the WiFi signal when you stay within a radius of 100 meters from it , but with the WiFi booster, that coverage can be up to kilometers.
